Today I want to dive into mindset; specifically lack mindset, as I have had a couple of calls recently with people who really wanted to move forward but their lack mindset was holding them back.
Lack mindset (living in fear of never having enough) shows up in areas such as money blocks, success blocks, negative thinking patterns and so on.
Living with these limitations prevents us from fully enjoying life. It hurts our self-esteem, keeps us out of alignment with our true desires, and restricts our ability to earn lots of money.
However, by doing the inner work and working on a positive mindset, it is simple to break free from these limitations and create a life filled with joy, purpose, and financial abundance. The issue with this simplicity is that people don’t have enough faith to do the work. The thought of spending 30 minutes a day on mindset, or connecting with goals, doesn’t seem worth it. Or they use excuses to not have to take the next step. Comments like ‘When I get to X then I can do Y’ or ‘When I have more time’ or ‘When I have more funds I can do x,y,z.
This is what keeps you stuck.
Your mind is creating limitations for you and you are accepting them because it is comfortable to do that. The mind loves to stay in its comfort zone. The problem with that is you will never move to the next stage. You will stay in the comfort zone, which has the same results until you decide to move out of that and move forward, which is uncomfortable, but absolutely necessary.
So, what are the effects of lack mindset on a person?
Wasting Time and Missed Opportunities:
A lack mindset traps us in a cycle of scarcity, which means missing out on exciting opportunities for personal growth and success. Instead of focusing on lack, focus should be directed on using time and energy towards creating the life you truly desire. Time spent in a state of lack is time not fully lived.
Diminished Self-Esteem and Self-Worth:
Living with a lack mindset chips away at your self-esteem and self-worth. Constantly believing that we are undeserving of abundance and success creates a negative self-image. This mindset knocks your confidence and prevents you from taking (healthy) risks that could lead to personal growth and greater achievements. It’s so important to recognise your value and cultivate a mindset that embraces abundance and self-belief!
Being Out of Alignment:
A lack mindset leads people to settle for jobs or careers that don’t align with their passions and purpose. I have seen too many people who know what they want to do in business but are afraid to take the leap, and it hurts my soul!
People often choose financial security over fulfilling work, and trading time for money. By doing this, they deny themselves the opportunity to earn abundant wealth while doing what they truly love. Embracing abundance and shifting mindset allows alignment in work and passions, leading to greater fulfilment and success.
Financial Limitations:
One of the biggest dangers of a lack mindset is its impact on the ability to accumulate wealth. Money blocks and a closed mindset create barriers that seriously cap the ability to attract and manifest financial abundance. Instead of viewing money as a tool for growth and positive impact, it is seen through a lens of scarcity. By doing the inner work, addressing money blocks, and adopting an abundance mindset, you open yourself up to the limitless possibilities of generating wealth by pursuing your passions.
Doing the Inner Work: Breaking Free from a Lack Mindset
Breaking free from a lack mindset requires a commitment to doing the inner work, which involves:
Awareness and Reflection:
Become aware of your limiting beliefs surrounding money, success, and self-worth. Journal, do some tapping, or get some 1:1 support. Reflect on how your beliefs have influenced your life and held you back. Recognise that these beliefs can be changed and choose to embrace a new perspective.
Shifting Mindset and Affirmations:
Replace limiting beliefs with empowering thoughts and affirmations. Affirm your worthiness of abundance, success, and happiness. Embrace the belief that there is more than enough for everyone and that you are capable of achieving greatness.
Embracing an Abundance Mentality:
Adopt an abundance mentality that focuses on opportunities, growth, and gratitude. Practice gratitude for what you already have and connect a sense of abundance in all areas of your life. Be grateful for all that you do have rather than worry about what you don’t. A great book for this practice is Magic by Rhonda Byrne, author of The Secret. Surround yourself with positive people who bring out the best in you, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with according to Jim Rohn.
Taking Aligned Action:
Combine your new and improved mindset with inspired action. Identify your passions and talents, and explore ways to align your work and financial goals with what brings you joy and fulfilment. By connecting with your values and having a vision to work towards, the practice becomes easy (if you need guidance on either, send me a message). Be open to new opportunities and be willing to step outside your comfort zone.
Living with a lack mindset poses significant limits on our potential. It caps our ability to lead a truly fulfilling life. By recognising the importance of doing the inner work and embracing abundance, we can break free from these limitations. Liberating yourself from a lack mindset will open doors to limitless possibilities. It allows us to live authentically, earn lots of money doing what we love, and make a positive impact on the world. But you have to take the first step by believing in yourself enough to commit to a new way of doing things.
Remember, you deserve abundance in all areas of your life, and by doing the inner work, you can create a life that exceeds your wildest dreams.
